Frequently Asked Questions

What are your rates?

Our session fees vary by clinician:

  • Rates range from $215-275 for a standard 45-minute session.
  • Initial intake sessions are 60 minutes and are prorated based on the 45-minute rate.
  • Admissions testing and other services are billed separately and transparently (see individual service pages for details).

We do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide a superbill upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Yes, we offer secure teletherapy sessions in 42 states through PsyPact. This allows us to provide accessible, high-quality care even if you’re not located near our Bethesda, Maryland office. Telehealth can be a convenient option for busy professionals, college students, parents, or individuals managing chronic health conditions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach built on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected. CBT helps individuals:

  • Identify unhelpful or negative thought patterns
  • Challenge distorted beliefs
  • Develop more adaptive ways of thinking
  • Learn coping strategies and behavior changes to support emotional wellbeing

CBT is practical, structured, and often short-term, making it one of the most widely used therapies for anxiety, depression, stress, and more.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach that helps people live a meaningful life in the presence of pain or difficulty. Rather than trying to get rid of difficult thoughts and emotions, ACT teaches clients to:

  • Observe thoughts without becoming overwhelmed by them
  • Develop psychological flexibility
  • Focus on personal values
  • Commit to actions that align with those values, even when life feels hard

ACT is particularly powerful in treating chronic illness, anxiety, and life transitions where “fixing” isn’t always possible — but shifting your relationship to the struggle is.

We offer therapy for a wide range of issues, but our areas of specialty include:

  • Coping with chronic illness (all ages)
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Life transitions and identity shifts
  • Child and adolescent therapy
  • Parent consultation and family support
  • Medical adherence and behavioral health strategies

Our approach is evidence-based, individualized, and always collaborative. We tailor our therapeutic strategies to fit your needs, using modalities like CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based interventions.

This is a common concern for parents — and an important one. Here are some ideas that can help:

  • Frame therapy as a safe space where your child can talk without judgment.
  • Emphasize that therapy isn’t a punishment, but a tool to feel better and build confidence.
  • Highlight how therapy can help with stress at school, friendship challenges, or big feelings they might not know how to manage.
  • Let them know that many kids and teens see therapists — it’s much more common than they might think.

We also spend time building rapport with your child from the very first session. Our goal is always to make therapy feel approachable, collaborative, and even enjoyable.

That’s completely okay. Therapy isn’t just for crises — it’s a place to process, reflect, grow, and reconnect with what matters to you. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or curious about how to support your child, therapy can help bring clarity and momentum.

We offer a free 10-minute phone consultation to talk through your concerns and answer any questions.

We understand that convenience is important — but so is connection and quality. While national online platforms can offer quick access, there are key differences to consider:

  • We are local and have deep knowledge of the DC-area school systems, medical community, and cultural context.
  • You’ll work with licensed, experienced clinicians who are committed to continuity of care.
  • Our practice offers integrated support for families, chronic illness, and anxiety — not a one-size-fits-all model.
  • We are focused on collaborative, individualized care, not volume or algorithmic matching.
  • Our small group practice provides personalized care from clinicians who really know you.

There’s also something powerful about supporting small practices. This LinkedIn article articulates it beautifully.

This depends on several factors, including your goals, the issues you’re working through, and how often you attend sessions. Some clients come for a few months and feel equipped to move forward. Others benefit from longer-term support.

We’ll talk about this openly and revisit the conversation as therapy progresses. Our aim is always to help you (or your child) meet your goals — not to keep you in therapy indefinitely.

We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, many of our clients use their out-of-network benefits to receive partial reimbursement. We’re happy to provide a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company.

Before starting therapy, we encourage you to call your insurer and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my reimbursement rate for psychotherapy?
  • Is pre-authorization required?
  • Do I have a deductible that must be met first?

We do our best to offer flexible scheduling, including some after-school and evening hours. Availability depends on the clinician, so please let us know your preferences when reaching out.

The easiest way is to fill out our secure contact form. From there:

  1. We’ll reach out to schedule a free 10-minute phone consultation.
  2. We’ll learn more about your needs and match you with the best-fit clinician.
  3. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule your first appointment and send intake forms.

We know taking the first step can feel intimidating. We’re here to make it as easy and supportive as possible.
