Support for children, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, chronic illness, and life’s challenges.

Support That Meets You Where You Are

Life brings challenges that can feel overwhelming, whether it’s managing anxiety, parenting a child with big emotions, or coping with the impact of a chronic illness. At Capital Psychological Services, we provide a space where you don’t have to go through it alone.

Our approach is both warm and evidence-based. We listen closely, tailor strategies to your unique situation, and help you build the skills and confidence to move forward with resilience and clarity.

Our Services

Therapy for Chronic Illness

We provide a safe space where you don’t have to explain or justify your experience. Using approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we help clients of all ages find ways to cope, make lifestyle adjustments, and build a meaningful life, even in the presence of pain or uncertainty.

Therapy for Anxiety, Stress & Life Transitions (Adults)

Anxiety, stress, and perfectionism can take over daily life, leaving you feeling stuck, drained, or disconnected. We work with adults to build resilience, manage stress more effectively, and navigate major life transitions with clarity and confidence. Our therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based methods.

Child & Teen Therapy

Children and teens often face big feelings, school pressures, and social challenges that can feel too big to manage alone. We work directly with kids and collaborate with parents to address issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and emotion regulation. For younger children, we provide parent-focused support to guide families through developmental challenges.

Parent Consultation

Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, and sometimes you just need a space to sort through challenges, explore what’s behind your child’s behavior, and get practical strategies that actually work. We partner with parents to strengthen relationships, build confidence, and make family life feel a little less overwhelming.

Admissions Testing

We offer WPPSI-IV and WISC-V cognitive assessments required by many private and independent schools. Testing is conducted in a child-friendly, supportive environment that helps children feel comfortable and confident. Reports are clear, professional, and delivered promptly to both families and schools.

Speaking Engagements

Meet the Team

Sarah Berger, Ph.D.

Hi, I’m Dr. Sarah Berger, a clinical psychologist who supports children, teens, adults, and parents navigating the emotional impact of anxiety, chronic illness, and life transitions. Many of the people I work with arrive feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or exhausted by the medical system. Others come in carrying stress, self-doubt, and the strain that long-term uncertainty can place on relationships, identity, and daily life.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I don’t believe anyone should have to carry everything alone. Together, we make sense of what’s been weighing on you, how your health, your emotions, and your relationships intersect, and create space for clarity, steadiness, and relief. I offer a balance of reflection, practical coping strategies, and compassionate conversation, always tailored to your unique situation.

In our work, my goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and more confident navigating the complexities of your life and health. Therapy is a place where you can finally exhale. Whether you’re searching for a diagnosis, managing chronic symptoms, or trying to support your child through big emotions and uncertainty, you deserve care too. I’m here to walk alongside you as you find your footing.

Ariana Bliss-Pryor, LMSW

I’m Ariana Bliss-Pryor, a licensed master social worker who specializes in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults. I work with clients navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation challenges, trauma, identity development, and adoption-related experiences.

My approach is warm, playful, and person-centered, grounded in evidence-based practices and guided by each client’s unique strengths.
As a clinical intern at the Barker Adoption Foundation, I provided trauma-informed therapy to adopted children and teens, helping them build emotional awareness, process adoption-related experiences, and develop healthier coping skills.

My goal is always to offer a supportive, culturally responsive environment where kids and teens feel understood, empowered, and capable of growth. As someone who grew up in the D.C. area, it’s an honor to support children and families in the community I call home.

Outside the therapy room, I enjoy yoga, meditation, long walks with my chocolate lab Penny, and bringing moments of calm and creativity into daily life.
